Sometimes, we find a baby bird, an injured squirrel, or a hedgehog crossing the road. It’s human to want to help — but it must be done right.
1. Observe before acting.
Many baby animals aren’t actually abandoned — parents may be nearby. Wait and watch before touching.
2. If injured, handle gently.
Use gloves or a towel to avoid stress and protect yourself.
3. Keep it warm and quiet.
Place in a small box with soft cloth and keep away from pets or loud noises.
4. Contact wildlife rescue.
Never try to raise or treat wild animals yourself — licensed rescuers know how to help safely.
Real kindness means knowing when to step in — and when to let nature do its work.
