Birds hide illness extremely well — in the wild, weakness means danger. So if your pet bird suddenly becomes quiet or stops eating, it’s serious.
1. Observe behavior carefully.
Is your bird fluffing up its feathers, sitting at the bottom of the cage, or closing its eyes often? Those are early warning signs.
2. Keep it warm.
Sick birds lose body heat quickly. Move the cage to a quiet, warm room (around 30°C) and reduce drafts.
3. Offer soft food.
Cooked rice, boiled egg yolk, or a little mashed fruit can help if your bird refuses seeds. You can also offer electrolyte water.
4. Call an avian vet.
Birds can decline fast — even in a few hours. A vet visit is crucial if your bird doesn’t improve quickly.
Prevention is key: clean the cage daily, avoid sudden temperature drops, and give a balanced diet with fresh veggies and fruit.
