Starting next academic year, school uniforms will become mandatory in all public schools, from 1st through 6th grade. The announcement was made by the Minister of Education, Givi Mikanadze, during the presentation of the National Concept of General Education Reform.
According to him, socially vulnerable families will receive appropriate financial support for school uniforms.
“We have studied the existing practices in schools and made a decision, in a test mode, that starting from the next academic year, school uniforms will become mandatory in all public schools, from 1st to 6th grade, at the primary level. At the same time, of course, we are taking into account socially vulnerable families, and every family assessed with 60,000 points or below by the Ministry of Health will receive corresponding support from the state regarding school uniforms,” Mikanadze said.
